Just watched the opening war scene in the Fellowship of the ring.
Please keep in mind, that what I am about to share is only my opinion and not necessarily facts. Will test Blu-rays (Thor, Fellowship of the Ring, Day after tomorrow), DVDs ( independence Day, Ghost in the Shell), Flac ( Ray Charles - Genius Loves company, Izzy - What a wonderful world, Buena Vista Social Club,Bob Marley. I think I would still be happy with my yamaha if it were not for a severe case of Upgraditis. But to be quite honest, I think at this price range all these receivers are pretty good. Will not give a final verdict as yet versus the Yamaha. With my Kef XQ40 sound was smooth, was not sharp or bright. With DMAX2 enabled, the change is noticable, I would say in a positive way. Played some MP3s from my LG NAS drive running twonky. I appreciate that on the remote there is a separate button for paging down and up.Ĩ. Tested the Internet radio - surfing is smooth. Ran the room calibration, all the distances except for the subwoofer were basically correct.ħ. You will need to install the Iphone App but when you increase the size, the resolution is awful.Ħ. In addition there is not a native app for the Marantz Remote for the IPAD.
The Yamaha Remote App (Iphone/Android) I would say is better. However, I wont miss it much,as I normally use Straight for movies and Pure Direct for Music.ĥ. Nothing beats Yamaha when it comes to the DSP Modes, nothing. One plus - Bi amping - When running the room EQ on the yamaha, I had to exit the setup and go into another menu to select Biamping, with the Marantz it is a sub menu of the Audyssey setup.Ĥ. The GUI is really easy on the eyes, very simple and well laid out.ģ. Surfing through the menus are pretty quick and responsive.Ģ.
